...help was on the way in the new year, as Rob Lowe gameshow The Floor became the biggest breakout among the writers' strike spackle. It grew in weeks two and three, peaking at a 0.51, then hit a couple more 0.5's along the way in an excellent nine-week run. It will be back in the fall after The Masked Singer.

The winter momentum instantly evaporated as returning dramas The Cleaning Lady and Alert: Missing Persons Unit stepped in for the spring and had virtually no interest, with both shows hitting low-0.2's and even some 0.1's.

The Cleaning Lady: Definitely could be an F, but The Cleaning Lady did have a 9-1-1 lead-in for most of last season and that's probably still a decidedly better situation than this (since Fox usually has the weakest local programming). 41 Plus is still 41 Plus, though. Grade: D-.

Alert: Missing Persons Unit: And Alert had an NFL episode in its season one average, so its drop was "only" -36% in Plus when comparing the Monday episodes with these. But it had a very bad lead-in (Fantasy Island) last year as well, so there's not much to excuse this performance by comparison. At least in season one it usually grew on the bad lead-in. Still, both of these shows apparently got renewed (???) so we'll see if Fox can finally find Alert a better situation. Can't imagine these ratings would inspire them to do so. Grade: D-.
