It's time for a journey through the CBS Tuesday schedule in 2022-23...

Everything seemed fine at the start of CBS' second year with a complete FBI night. All three shows were within two percent of last year's ratings, with International (the sophomore that you might expect to decline most from its first fall) actually on the upside.

But the lineup began falling off in the winter months. Not so much the mothership, at least not yet, but International could not replicate last year's strong winter, and Most Wanted was significantly down from the period when it was replacing its lead actor in winter 2022.

By the spring, it was a double digit decline for the night as a whole, as the mothership took a huge dip in the period. A show that had been getting 0.6's in January was mostly stuck with 0.4's here, while the spin-offs each hit 0.3's a handful of times.

FBI: It's still looking fine, but this was a bit of a bump in what had appeared to be a somewhat NCIS-like trajectory. The timeslot picked up a lot of competition with potential audience crossover after the new year, with ABC adding The Rookie and friends, plus Fox's 9-1-1: Lone Star coming to the night, but I'm still being a tad harsh because the spring numbers were not pretty. Grade: C+.
FBI: International: I thought some people were kinda underrating it last year, but it didn't do much to vindicate itself in season two, especially in the spring when it had to face the return of The Voice. Grade: C.
FBI: Most Wanted: It has the biggest drop of the lot, but I will not grade it out any worse than International because it was probably coming down from the biggest overperformance last year, with its lead actor change and all. Grade: C.
