FINALS UPDATE: The Super Bowl posted a 15-year low in total viewership with 91.629 million and an even worse historical performance in A18-49 (26.48), down 12% from last year. Lead-out The Equalizer (5.08) had a horrible showing in the demo compared to previous Super Bowl lead-outs but was more competitive in total viewers, skewing far older than the usual lead-out. Compared with last year's The Masked Singer, The Equalizer was off a whooping 38% in the demo but just 14% in total viewers.
WHAT MATTERS:
- Numbers posted for CBS' Super Bowl Sunday. Lead-out The Equalizer started at 10:39 ET, almost exactly the same time as Fox's The Masked Singer a year-ago (10:40), so the prelim for the 10:30 half-hour should at least somewhat point toward the trendline. (Last year, Fox's 10:30 half-hour in the prelims averaged a 9.9, and Masked Singer ended up with an 8.14 in the finals.)
