WHAT MATTERS:
- Preliminary ratings for the four-network simulcast of the vice presidential debate (1.9 ABC, 1.0 CBS, 1.3 NBC, 1.1/1.0 Fox) were in total roughly 70% of the first presidential debate prelims from last week.
- In the 8/7c hour, The Masked Singer (1.4) was on top but lower than usual, beating out CBS' Big Brother (0.9) and another pre-debate edition of Weakest Link (0.8) on NBC. The CW began airing Italian acquisition Devils (0.1).
