Cablemetrics: Preacher, Power, Queen Sugar, Wrecked, Playing House

WHAT MATTERS:

• AMC paired its sophomore drama Preacher (0.58) with Fear the Walking Dead (0.96) for a one-time preview on Sunday, then moved the show to its regular Monday timeslot with a 0.43. That 0.43 is barely half of where Preacher started its "regular" run a year ago, but still managed to match the low point from season one. That number was actually achieved early last season, before it grew to 0.5 and eventually a bunch of 0.6's late last season.

• Starz crown jewel Power was back with a 0.78 demo, 29% below last season's breakthrough first Sunday episode and tying the low point from last season. Now we will see if Power can improve its trends by avoiding the big post-premiere drop it took a year ago.

• OWN took a similar approach to the Preacher model with season two of its female-skewing drama Queen Sugar, launching the season after The Haves and the Have Nots on Tuesday (0.68) before moving to its regular Wednesday slot the next night (0.54). So far, it has been an impressive hold for the series; it matched the series premiere rating on Tuesday and was down just 11% y2y for the Wednesday premiere.

• Also back in the last week was yet another sophomore in the TBS comedy Wrecked, with a double-episode premiere (0.49/0.36). Both halves of this outing were down 20% from the double-episode series premiere a year ago.

• And USA's comedy Playing House (0.15/0.10) returned after nearly two years away, with a really undesirable timeslot in the Friday 11/10c hour. This is actually rather close to PH's last premiere night, a woeful 0.16/0.12 back in August 2015.
