Cablemetrics: Feud: Bette and Joan, The Arrangement, Big Little Lies, Homeland

These numbers are current through Monday, March 6.

WHAT MATTERS:

• The Sunday after the Oscars brought fairly mixed news to the broadcasters, but on cable it was mostly positive:

• FX debuted its latest Ryan Murphy anthology, Feud: Bette and Joan to a 0.52 demo rating, respectable enough but still below the Legion (0.69) and Taboo (0.62) premieres from earlier this year (not to mention a fraction of Murphy's other FX series). Of note here is that the show skewed way older than the FX norm; just 29% of its audience was 18-49, a huge difference compared with Taboo (currently 46%) and Legion (58%) and Murphy flagship American Horror Story (68%).

• On E!, The Arrangement (0.36) started above anything that the other E! drama The Royals has done this season. The notable here is this is one of the most female-skewing shows I've ever seen, with a 0.61 W18-49 vs. a mere 0.11 M18-49! The Royals (which is itself a heavily female-skewing show) usually had a similar male audience with about half as many females.

• Meanwhile, there were a slew of big to huge upticks elsewhere on cable. Bouncing back from the Oscars was probably a given, but Big Little Lies (0.41), Homeland (0.51) and Billions (0.27) also went well above everything they'd done before the Oscars this season. An exception to the upward trend was The Walking Dead (4.71), which continued moving downward but has still not quite gotten to its worst year-to-year trends from late in the fall.
