Cablemetrics: American Horror Story, Mr. Robot, Fear the Walking Dead, Z Nation

WHAT MATTERS:

• Maybe it is possible for American Horror Story to have a bigger collapse than last year?! It was down almost a full point in week two to 1.79, and -17% compared to week two of last year (after a -7% on premiere night). However, this is an irregular time of year for it to premiere, and it's never gone head-to-head with the return of broadcast competition for week two. So we'll see. Fellow Wednesday breakthrough South Park (0.97) also had a sharp week two decline, but still had better raw numbers than the year-ago week two.

• The season finale of Mr. Robot got back to 0.39, its best number since the season premiere and within a pretty respectable range of last season's finale (0.46). Most of the cable fall stuff is waiting till some of the broadcast dust settles, but USA did offer a preview of its upcoming drama Falling Water (0.16) after the Robot finale.

• On Sunday, Fear the Walking Dead (1.55) continued its rebound, and Ballers (0.50) had a much better second try against NFL competition. However, FX's The Strain (0.40) gave back its week three uptick, and then some.

• And on pre-premiere Friday, Syfy brought back once of its strongest scripted players, the zombie drama Z Nation (0.30). It was a tenth behind last year's premiere.
