Cablemetrics: Animal Kingdom, Wrecked, Major Crimes, Guilt

WHAT MATTERS:

• TNT had its new drama of the summer, Animal Kingdom with a 0.45 in the first hour and a 0.35 in the second. This show's pilot had previewed after NBA playoffs telecasts and was supposed to preview again after The Last Ship on Sunday. But that premiere got delayed due to its opening scene's similarity to the Orlando shootings. Anyway, 0.45/0.35 doesn't seem great, but TNT renewed Murder in the First last year with similar to slightly worse raw numbers. So it'll probably be fine if it stays close to this.
  

• TBS had its own Tuesday night double-episode premiere, the new comedy Wrecked (0.61/0.45). I kinda figured with that half-hour drop that it must have had a huge lead-in from The Big Bang Theory, but it only got a 0.7 at 9:30. That means it had pretty impressive retention; Clipped opened with just a 0.42 last summer, after all. But it's also a rather bad drop at the half that might suggest actual rejection.

• On Monday, TNT consolidated its ancient-skewing procedurals with the premiere of veteran Major Crimes (0.42). It was down an OK 21% from its year-ago premiere, but barely had two-thirds of the Rizzoli and Isles (0.61) rating.

• And Freeform had a rough premiere for new thriller Guilt (0.16), starting with an identical same-day rating to winter's Recovery Road. 

• Farther up the charts, Game of Thrones inched down to 3.88, so the race for its first 4.0 of the season will have to wait another week. (But for perspective, it was still over four times anything else on this table...) Preacher had a slightly disappointing drop to 0.68 in the second week in its regular timeslot, but still looks like a member of the cable elite for now.
