*- For this winter's War of 18-49 updates, the A18-49+ is based on a projected league average, calculated by applying the league average's current year-to-year trend (thru 1/3/16) to the final 2014-15 average. This should help make these numbers compare more fairly with fall seasons past.
Rating the Ratings: One of the best stories on cable this fall was Showtime's Sunday, where The Affair picked up some noticeable steam at 10/9c. Leading into that was a very healthy season from the much-maligned anchor Homeland, which seems to have righted the ship after a big drop last fall. -9% is just barely up in Plus for a broadcast series, but on cable it means you're holding up better than about 85-90% of scripted shows.
As rough as things have been on cable, it still feels kinda off to give out an A-range grade for a 9% drop. But I can justify it here because of how well Homeland ended the season. It hit a new season high 0.63 on December 6, and then the 0.70 for the finale two weeks later was Homeland's best raw number in two years! Grade: A-.
Here's the now updated War of 18-49 post for Homeland.
