Rating the Ratings: MasterChef remained the runaway strongest player on the Fox schedule this summer, but that says more about the other offerings than anything. MasterChef took the biggest drop in series history, going another 23% down to drop all the way back to the same Plus from season two when it was considered a merely OK player. There's a bit of additional disappointment here considering how well the two short cycles of MasterChef Junior did in the regular season, but maybe that additional exposure was part of the reason. Ultimately, it was not as big of a disaster as looked possible when it premiered with a paltry 1.2 on the last Wednesday of the regular season. But 20%+ year-to-year declines were still the norm, especially in the second half when it was facing both Big Brother and America's Got Talent. Grade: C-.
Here's the now updated War of 18-49 post for MasterChef.
