- FINALS UPDATE: Hard to be too critical of these numbers, but it was the first The Walking Dead season premiere to not set a new series high, averaging 14.63 million viewers and a 7.43 A18-49 rating. Both of these figures were about 15% below last year's premiere. (But of course, they were about 50% ahead of Empire, which is about 100% ahead of any other drama currently on air, so it's all relative...)
- On broadcast, Madam Secretary (1.5), The Last Man on Earth (1.2) and Blood and Oil (0.9) all adjusted up, while CSI: Cyber (0.8) and Bob's Burgers (0.9) went down. TWD beat Sunday Night Football this week, as SNF ended up with a season low 6.9.
- On a night dominated by AMC's 90-minute season premiere of The Walking Dead, ABC's drama lineup took multiple-tenth hits across the board. The drama bookends Once Upon a Time (1.6) and Quantico (1.6) were each down a little over 10% in week three. But those drops seemed quite reasonable in light of the utter obliteration of the show they sandwich, Blood and Oil (0.8) at 9/8c. After a good week two hold, the show dropped a half point in week three and has suddenly become a big problem for the ABC sked, especially since it's leading into a drama that looks legit.
- Before the drama lineup was Alfonso Ribiero's debut on America's Funniest Home Videos (1.1). The host change didn't generate much heat but it was still down just a tenth from last year's premiere.
- The Fox live-action comedies Brooklyn Nine-Nine (1.3) and The Last Man on Earth (1.1) each shed multiple tenths from their non-overrun premieres two weeks ago, but animated anchors The Simpsons (1.5) and Family Guy (1.4) were a bit steadier. Overall, the 9/8c hour which directly faced TWD fared a tick worse on average.
- And CBS had the overrun, which makes them more subject to finals adjustments, but it looks like the NFL was only able to keep Madam Secretary (1.6/1.3), The Good Wife (1.2/1.1) and CSI: Cyber (0.9 at 10:30) close to even with last week's premieres.
- Football/cable to come!
