WHAT MATTERS:
- American Horror Story opened the Hotel edition with a 2.99, ever so slightly below the last two season premieres (3.11 last year and 3.05 in 2013). In a cable world where the median decline is still somewhere in the -20s, that's great news.
- Sunday premium cable saw Showtime's Homeland (0.56) top HBO's The Leftovers (0.33). Homeland was exactly even with last year's season opener, but The Leftovers had a rough start. This was just half of last season's low point and well under half of last season's 0.77 average. (Worth noting it aired after True Blood in season one.)
- The season two premiere of The Affair (0.18) led out of Homeland and beat last season's 0.14 premiere (but was behind the last few weeks of last season).
- The finale of Fear the Walking Dead (3.37) was actually down 0.07 points from last week (though it stayed 0.06 ahead of week four to avoid a new series low). Updates about the mothership's premiere from last night should be coming in a few hours.
- And the final season of Syfy's Haven (0.20) joined the list, yet another Syfy drama in the low-0.2 range but down just 0.02 from last year's premiere when it didn't have the Smackdown! lead-in.
