WHAT MATTERS:
- Kind of a slow week premiere-wise, with the only arrival of note being ABC Family's Young and Hungry (0.43) for the second half of season two. Like their other multi-cams Melissa and Joey and Baby Daddy, it's had a pretty healthy year-to-year drop by cable standards. And the one thing that really surprises me about these ABCF multi-cams is how high their Skews are. Even though these are considered relatively traditional shows, they attract as high a percentage of 18-49ers as pretty much anything else in these tables (well, at least until FXX's comedies return).
- After coming back to earth a bit the last couple weeks, Ray Donovan did it again, surging to yet another new season high at 0.54. This was its first up year-to-year point of the season. It'll need a couple more similar surges to stay on this pace, but hard to count it out at this point.
- Just in case you were still dismissing HBO's Ballers as a timeslot hit after True Detective, the show still posted a stout 0.77 (down just a tenth from last week) even as the low-1's Detective gave way to micro-rated Show Me a Hero (0.15).
- After Dennis Leary's SexDrugsRockRoll held up OK in its first month, the show plummeted to 0.21 last week. That could've been just a blip against the preseason NFL competition, but it packed on another drop to 0.19 this week, leaving it as another FX comedy in the same area as cancelled The Comedians. It actually did no better than its low-rated 10:30 lead-out Married, which surged back to its (still low) normal at 0.19 after a truly rotten 0.12 last week.
