Rating the Ratings: CBS' reliable backup comedy Mike and Molly had an impressive season in the relief role, showing up on Monday at 8:30 in December after sophomore The Millers blew up. Though it didn't have a good December (going sub-2.0 for each episode), it spiked as most CBS comedies do in early January, then held onto a 2.0+ for longer than it probably should have, into mid-March before dipping back to the high 1's in the last two months. For most of the year, it was barely below or even with its 2 Broke Girls lead-in. Since the full y2y trend is a bit deflated by the opening month, I was right on the fringe between B+/B here. Normally the decline would be just a hair too much for me to justify it, but the tiebreaker here was that it moved a half hour earlier and was in slightly lower-viewed conditions. Considering the context, it seemed like a stronger show this year. Grade: B+.
Here's the now updated War of 18-49 post for Mike and Molly.
