Rating the Ratings: For a third straight season, the CBS veteran Criminal Minds got weaker, but only a little bit. The show had a pretty good fall, down almost exactly league average year-to-year going into January. But it didn't really spike in the new year, perhaps due to the presence of massive breakout Empire, and it was stuck at around 2.0 for most of the rest of the season. Though Empire probably hurt a little bit, the show's worst year-to-year segment of the season was actually in April and May, after Empire was done, with the May finale down a full third at an ugly 1.8. And some of the break it should get for competition is cancelled out by how great its Survivor lead-in has held up. It holds onto the Wednesday 9:00 hour for an eleventh season in 2015-16, but might it have been different if not for Empire staying in the hour? Grade: C+.
Here's the now updated War of 18-49 post for Criminal Minds.
