Rating the Ratings: After two years of decline in Plus, Modern Family turned it back around a bit with a slightly smaller than average decline in 2014-15. The show was trending better than this for most of the season, but the finale comparison was so drastic that it hurt the season as a whole; 2014's finale got a big wedding spike to 3.7, while 2015's finale plummeted to a new low 2.3 as half of the comedy lineup sat out for the premiere of 500 Questions. I leaned toward B rather than B- because of how much of a fluke the finale comparison was, but the positive Plus trend was probably still a bit exaggerated because of Modern's healthier surroundings; its lead-in The Goldbergs at 8:30 and lead-out Black-ish at 9:30 were both smashing successes compared to previous occupants. But I'd still call it a reasonably good year for the show. Grade: B.
