Rating the Ratings: In 2014-15, Castle returned to its "barely passable retention" roots, taking the biggest drop in series history despite pretty decent seasons from its Dancing with the Stars and The Bachelor lead-ins. What was weird here was that the show had three very healthy results (2.1 -> 1.9 -> 1.9) to open the season, and that was back when NBC was still getting good ratings with The Blacklist. But in week four, Castle crashed to 1.5 and never really recovered. It had only a couple brief increases at the end of the DWTS fall and Bachelor seasons when those shows went up a lot. And the 1.3's and 1.4's after DWTS at the end of the season were just not good. Facing NCIS: Los Angeles on CBS wasn't easy, but Castle still should've done better. And it's hard to feel great about 2015-16 since NBC probably won't be as incompetent next year. Grade: C-.
Here's the now updated War of 18-49 post for Castle.
