*- For this winter's War of 18-49 updates, the A18-49+ is based on a projected league average, calculated by applying the league average's current year-to-year trend (thru 1/18/15) to the final 2013-14 average. This should help make these numbers compare more fairly with fall seasons past.
Rating the Ratings: This fall, The Voice left little doubt that the show is now on a downturn, dropping by more than league average on both nights. But it once again held off going into an American Idol- or X Factor-esque tailspin. The show had a fairly modest 4.1 premiere against massive competition from The Big Bang Theory and Gotham, but it held up well over the rest of the blind auditions period. As has become the norm with these audition-based shows, the drops got more pronounced late in the season. That was especially true of The Voice's Tuesday episodes, though it may have been exaggerated a bit since the show aired at 9/8c in fall 2013. This will be the show's lowest-rated fall season in Plus, but not by a terribly wide margin. Grade: C.
Here's the now updated War of 18-49 post for The Voice.
