*- For this winter's War of 18-49 updates, the A18-49+ is based on a projected league average, calculated by applying the league average's current year-to-year trend (thru 1/18/15) to the final 2013-14 average. This should help make these numbers compare more fairly with fall seasons past.
Rating the Ratings: One of the key players in the rise of USA Network ended its run in embarrassingly low-rated fashion. Though it had dropped 20%+ every season of its existence, the Covert Affairs drops really escalated in season five. The summer was particularly ridiculous, as Covert was down nearly half year-to-year in a Tuesday pairing with Royal Pains. It was the lowest-rated drama on an already struggling network, eclipsed even by soft newbies Rush and Satisfaction. It was down a bit less in the fall when reunited with longtime lead-in White Collar, but it still hung right around the 0.3 mark before a big spike to 0.43 for the finale. Though Covert hadn't been announced as cancelled at the time, it may have gotten some help from the announced series finale of White Collar leading in. Grade: F.
Here's the now updated War of 18-49 post for Covert Affairs.
