Rating the Ratings: The skies aren't so blue at USA Network anymore, and former USA all-star Royal Pains was one of many examples of that last summer. It took the biggest drop in series history in 2014, which is really saying something considering it was down a third two years ago. The only good news for the show is that the rest of the network's drama department is completely melting down as well; it was still USA's second biggest drama out of the six they aired from Tuesday to Thursday. So it probably still has some chance of returning, though it's not renewed yet. This is arguably a failing performance, but it manages to avoid that grade simply because I need room for an even worse grade for its lead-out Covert Affairs (that update will come after Covert's fall episodes). Grade: D-.
Here's the now updated War of 18-49 post for Royal Pains.
