Rating the Ratings: Big Brother became an even bigger player on the summer stage in 2014, very nearly topping the Tuesday editions of America's Got Talent for top broadcast series of the summer. (And it was usually ahead of Talent in the second half of the summer.) It's one of those stories that the media will struggle to describe properly because there was no explosive raw numbers growth. But Big Brother was getting very similar raw numbers all the way back in 2008. That means the show has become hugely more valuable; once a clear second-tier summer player, it now pretty much shares the top tier with Got Talent. And it's all the more important for CBS as their usual summer repeat strategy becomes less tenable. Grade: A-.
