- Friday had the irregularity of the big four (plus many cable networks) simulcasting Stand Up to Cancer in the 8/7c hour. This telecast didn't have ads and thus wasn't counted in finals, but the preliminaries (which I use in my spreadsheet to estimate viewing/competition) were 0.3 on Fox and 0.5 on each of the other three networks.
- How much of a matchup game is college football? Fox's Oregon/Michigan State did a very strong 2.1 rating, which was almost double any CFB on Fox rating from last season. This game alone could help the Fox average grow year-to-year even if it's significantly down the rest of the season. NBC also got an outstanding number from an uncompetitive Michigan/Notre Dame game (1.6), which almost hit the combined rating of NBC's two primetime games last year (0.9 and 0.8).

I don't quite understand College Football. California has 38 million people and the combined population of Michigan and Oregon is 14 million. Why does it improve 367% week to week!?
