- Fox tried and failed to get a 0.1 rating with a Glee repeat (0.2) on Saturday. Sunday's second NFL preseason game in broadcast primetime was even year-to-year. And Big Brother was the weekend's only original series (including the cable shows I track) to move by more than a tenth week-to-week, probably benefiting from its first actual 8/7c start time in three weeks.

I laughed with your initial sentence ahah. Seriously, what the hell is FOX thinking? They haven't even rerun Bones that much this year, they could just air them there. Or repeats of The Mindy Project or even New Girl, at least they would have more upside than Glee!
The Bachelor only airs for 8 weeks or so I think, I don't think it's possible for Nashville to pair with it since it has a full season order. Also, Castle is ABC's best repeater so I don't really think ABC should bother replacing its repeats since they already have SO many serialized shows that don't repeat well and need replacements (OUAT, Resurrection, Revenge, Shield, Nashville, Greys, Scandal, Murder).
I don't actually mind Nashville airing on the fall because it's one less promotional hour for ABC to worry about (last year they were clearly in over their heads with how much stuff they had to promote), but in a perfect world I would have done Castle on Wednesdays, Forever on Mondays and The Whispers on Tuesdays.
However, midseason might be an even better opportunity for this because The Blacklist will be gone from Mondays to there is a much better opportunity to counter attack. That's exactly the time to banish Nashville for summer, especially because it should pair well with The Bachelorette and The Bachelor in paradise. By then, I would do one of the following:
1) If Forever shows promise, move it to Monday after DWTS, premiere The Whispers on Tuesdays after Shield returns from hiatus and move Castle to Wednesdays
2) If Forever is 13 and done, premiere something female skewing like The Astronaut Wives Club on Mondays, premiere The Whispers on Tuesdays after Shield returns from hiatus and move Castle to Wednesdays
3) If State of Affairs performs better than we all think and if Blackish proves a worthy lead-in, leave Castle put, cancel Forever and premiere The Whispers there and place The Astronaut Wives Club on Wednesdays
Maybe FOX has come to their senses, and are preparing Glee for its new timeslot :)
Just to clarify, I would put Castle on Tuesdays at 10:00 in the fall and ice the older-skewing show that would inherit the post-Dancing slot on Mondays come January (whether it was Forever or if Agatha had been picked up this season, or the gestating idea of ABC's to make a Derrick Storm series). While The Bachelor/Nashville pairing runs, determine if Castle should be moved back to Mondays to pair with Dancing again or if a different show should get a whirl. Then run the rest of Nashville following The Bachelorette & Bachelors in Paradise.
While Castle is a better repeater than ABC's other dramas, I do think they are a waste when ABC airs original programming nearly year-round on Mondays. That opportunity should be seized, especially since CBS and NBC don't do that.
