- CBS has done pretty well on the two Big Brother Wednesdays before next week's arrival of Extant. Big Brother (2.3)'s season premiere was up a tenth year-to-year on 6/25, and it was still up a tenth year-to-year even after a big week two drop on 7/2 (1.8). (The second Wednesday airing last year (1.7) on the eve of the 4th of July ended up being that season's low point.)
- After a blah start for NBC's co-production drama Taxi Brooklyn (1.0), it's at least kept itself in the conversation with a 100% hold in week two (1.0). It's not totally inconceivable it could end up getting The Night Shift-esque numbers once original America's Got Talent arrives on the night, but it's still got to survive two more episodes after repeats.
- And though that big spike a few weeks ago for So You Think You Can Dance (1.4/1.4) proved to be a fluke, the show is still holding up decently; the 1.4 on July 2 was just a tenth behind the airing in the same week last year.

I'm surprised that NBC didn't flip The Night Shift and Taxi Brooklyn's respective debuts considering the former has 8 episodes while the latter has 12. It's held up well, though, and feels less likely that it'll find a new floor when its lead-in gets up to a point stronger.
The coming weeks will be real interesting for SYTYCD when CBS and NBC go all-new against the show.
Look at the difference on the 9 o'clock repeat on CBS week to week: 1.3 for Criminal Minds (R) and a .6 for Under the Dome repeat. I got home at 7:50 and forced myself to watch the final 10 minutes of Big Brother before my Criminal Minds repeat. It was all for waste as it turned out to be UTD. I watched Goldbergs and Modern Family repeats instead. Forgot how funny the former really is
Good point about Taxi and Nigh Shift.
That's normal. It's the same reason why Castle, and sometimes Shield and GA, are basically the only shows that ABC ever repeats, and the reason why they were repeating BoP last summer even after it was cancelled. Serialized shows won't repeat well.
Hey. It's not a NBC "co production". Taxi Brooklyn was produced ONLY by french
That's true to some extent. I think a good counter-example would actually be How I Met Your Mother which was trending downards in its first season and it wouldn't be until later seasons that it would become an actual hit. So while the trend thing definitely helps, it's not useful enough to predict which shows will actually grow into big hits and which won't.
I get what you mean. Nothing about HIMYM's mid 2's at the end of season one scream that it was going to end with a 5.4 8 years later.
