Rating the Ratings: In last year's War of 18-49 post for Cougar Town, I said, "It can probably stick around on TBS till it takes a big downturn from this opening level." Welp... season five took a 28% decline, leading TBS to announce a final season renewal for 2014-15. This season started (0.9) and ended (0.8) acceptably enough, but pretty much everything in between was an underwhelming mix of 0.6's and 0.7's, usually down 30%+ from that time last year. Though Cougar Town was at least a tenth stronger than TBS' other original sitcoms in its first TBS season, this time the show had no real separation from Sullivan and Son, newbie Ground Floor and the also-cancelled Men at Work. TBS is probably correct to move on to shows that weren't originally budgeted for the big broadcast stage. Grade: D.
Here's the now updated War of 18-49 post for Cougar Town.
