Rating the Ratings: The end finally came for one of primetime's most improbable survivors, and oddly it was after the show took its smallest year-to-year drop ever. It was even up in total viewers! (It did start a month earlier than last year, so the timeslot was a bit easier overall.) But this really just made it close to the same show that barely scraped through on a couple other occasions. Community's fate would always be at the mercy of NBC's ability to find a replacement, and About a Boy wasn't a totally unreasonable one. Plus, weakening Parks and Recreation wasn't really strong enough for the fall, so it got held for the midseason returnee role Community usually occupied. If NBC couldn't find a way to renew Law & Order for a record-setting 21st season, they certainly weren't going to renew Community just so it could have six seasons and a movie. So (at least on NBC) it comes up one short. Grade: C+.
Here's the now updated War of 18-49 post for Community.
