Rating the Ratings: In the final American Dad! season on Fox, the network moved it into the 7:30 half-hour to accommodate Seth MacFarlane's documentary series Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey. (Then again, Fox moved Bob's Burgers, which is continuing on the network, into the even worse 7:00 slot. So it could've been worse.) This timeslot downgrade means its year-to-year trends are not fair. But a comparison of just the fall/winter numbers is relatively apples-to-apples. As of the Cosmos premiere, American Dad! was down 11%, or almost exactly a league average drop. That was a little less than its Family Guy lead-in (down 14% over the same stretch). And it had exactly the same A18-49+ as the 2010-11 season, which was also split between 9:30 and 7:30. American Dad! has been one of the most consistent shows on TV across the last decade, and it's still that way as it moves on to TBS. Grade: B-.
Here's the now updated War of 18-49 post for American Dad!
