Rating the Ratings: Shark Tank's rags-to-riches Nielsen story became even more amazing in season five. It grew 5% vs. a 2012-13 season that was already bordering on largest Friday series in the A18-49+ era. That made the 2013-14 season of Shark Tank the biggest Friday season of the era by a pretty wide margin; nothing else has gotten very close to the league average (previous record is 90). It regularly cracked the weekly top 25 in 18-49 ratings, a very difficult achievement on the lower-viewed night. Maybe all this says more bad about the weeknight programming these days than good about Shark Tank, but I'm choosing to look at this glass-half-full. And as with Big Bang, I'm inflating the grade here a bit because of the larger historical significance. So far, Shark Tank has really showed no signs of slowing down; it even tied the series high in May! Grade: A.
Here's the now updated War of 18-49 post for Shark Tank.
