![]() | Was gonna do a MasterChef question on Monday but didn't get to it because of the holiday. To make up for it, here's one on the last (and likely least) of Fox's veteran reality staples. The return of So You Think You Can Dance is arguably more interesting anyway, since it's a long-running franchise that's been in serious danger in recent years. Also, it tends to drop much more over the course of the season, like most music shows, so starting with a good sampling is crucial. Dance premiered last season at 1.9 in the regular season, then hit 2.3 the next night after American Idol. But at this point, I'm not even sure it'll beat the 1.4 from the 2013 finale. The prelim 1.4 premiere for MasterChef (even if a bit deflated by Memorial Day) illustrated how deeply Fox's network-wide struggle runs, and it's been extra-brutal for music shows. But Dance may not bomb simply because the show has so staggeringly little competition; NBC recently pulled what would've been the only competing original, the World Music Awards, so it's all repeats from 8 to 10 on the Big Three. Over/Under: 1.45. |
