The Question, Monday 2/24/14: Will The Voice and The Blacklist Sing Even Louder This Spring?

Forget February 3. February 24 is 2014's real "Super Monday," as NBC brings back the biggest three-hour entertainment lineup on TV the day after the Winter Olympics. Though The Voice sagged a bit late in its fall season, that's not exactly anything new for that show, and those ever-appealing blind auditions should bring viewers back to the sets as they always do. And top new drama The Blacklist, coming off a respectable trio of January episodes with much weaker lead-ins, will hope to recapture some post-Voice magic. Will The Voice and The Blacklist sing even louder this spring? That's The Question for Monday, February 24, 2014.

The Voice Last Season/Last Spring The Blacklist This Season
5.1 (fall premiere)
4.02 (fall Monday average)
3.3/4.0 (fall Mon/Tue finales)

4.8 (spring 2013 premiere)
4.14 (spring 2013 Mon average)
3.7/4.4 (spring 2013 Mon/Tue finales)
3.8 (premiere, 5.6 last 1/2hr Voice)
3.14 (average w/Voice lead-in)
3.2 (fall finale, 3.4 last 1/2hr Voice)

2.43 (average w/o Voice, 1/13-1/27)

I think The Voice comes in at or just shy of last spring's premiere rating. Olympics promotion will keep it from going much lower than that. And since it stayed around 3.0 even with the lower late-season Voice lead-in, a spike back to low 3's should be a realistic goal for The Blacklist.

The Voice PLUS The Blacklist Over/Under: 7.95.
