During the mid-to-late aughts, the definitive primetime lineup took up shop on Fox Tuesdays in the winter and spring: megahit House leading out of giga-hit American Idol. But by fall 2010, both shows were off the night completely, as House shored up Monday during the tail end of its run and Idol moved to Wednesday/Thursday. Fox initially had a stout replacement in Glee, but as that show burned out and moved to Thursday, the network has struggled in its attempts to establish a Tuesday comedy night.

2014-15 Update: Reality bomb Utopia is not included above since it lasted for just two regular season Tuesdays. It gave way to two short cycles of MasterChef Junior, which surged to league average-ish ratings in its move to a weeknight. Hell's Kitchen filled in with a very mediocre 73 Plus from March through early June. After another year of Plus declines, Mindy was cancelled and New Girl bumped to midseason, and Fox will start totally from scratch this fall.
Notable midseason replacements:
For the four seasons that House aired partly alongside Idol and partly without, I split up the ratings for the fall/winter based on those airings. (I also did this with 24 in 2003-04, Fringe in 2008-09 and Glee in 2009-10.)
Standoff initially aired at 9/8c after House, but the shows were flipped when they returned after the baseball hiatus.
See here for more explanations/disclaimers about Schedules Plus.
