- Halloween saw CBS' newbie The Millers take a scary drop in its first episode without an original lead-in from The Big Bang Theory (whose repeat averaged a 2.6). This is a tick or two more than would be expected from a 2.6-point lead-in drop, but The Millers also aired in the most HUT-depressed hour of Halloween, and a couple competing networks were actually much stronger than normal with Halloween specials. Basically the takeaway here is that given a more normal timeslot, it doesn't appear that The Millers is markedly different from fellow newbies Mom or The Crazy Ones (which itself ended up dropping nearly as much by percentage).
- As for those Halloween specials: NBC had a Saturday Night Live Halloween special while ABC went with It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. Both of those were massive improvements on the usual entertainment series programming, which probably offset the modest HUT depression from 9-11pm and kept most of those networks' shows pretty close to even.
- On the CW, The Vampire Diaries took a huge Halloween drop, but week three of Reign managed to stay even. With TVD likely to rebound next week, let's see if Reign can also pick up.
