The Question, Thursday 9/12/13: How Many Old Fans Notice the End of Burn Notice?

We're now used to a world where cable dramas can beat almost anything that the broadcasters have to offer. But in the years just before True Blood, Sons of Anarchy, The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones broke through, the cable drama landscape was pretty much run by one network, whose hits were smaller but also much more numerous. And Burn Notice, the show that really kicked off USA's run of "blue skies" dominance in 2007, finally comes to an end tonight. How many old fans notice the end of Burn Notice? That's The Question for Thursday, September 12, 2013.

Burn Notice This Season
1.18 (premiere, 6/6/13, -2% y2y)
1.01 (average, -19% y2y)
0.97 -> 0.95 -> 1.16 (last three weeks)
1.32 (summer 2012 finale)

After toiling away at right around a 1.0 for most of the season, Burn Notice returned to near season high levels for its penultimate week, even as NBC was airing a football game with a double-digit rating. The last big USA series finale was Monk in 2009, and it grew by 50% week-to-week (1.6 -> 2.4) after having its own penultimate week spike (1.2 -> 1.6). TNT's The Closer also vaulted big in its finale about a year ago, from 1.0 to 1.6. There may not be the same kind of anticipation for this one, but it should take another nice step up week-to-week.

Over/Under: 1.55.
