- NBC's Wednesday Revolution began, and Revolution itself returned pretty nicely, nearly matching its late-season post-Voice results in a lead-off role. But the night's biggest story by far was the return of Law and Order: SVU, which outrated any result from the last two seasons and grew a whooping 29% from last year.
- ABC got off to a fairly soft start on Wednesday with a one-hour Modern Family and Nashville each down around 25% from last year's premieres and The Middle also down double digits. They didn't get the fall bounce-back they have in years past. But Back in the Game, which outrated all of The Neighbors' 8:30 results last season, started in reasonably positive fashion.
- Despite the SVU breakout, the CBS procedurals did fine, especially Criminal Minds (down just 10%), though a downward adjustment by CSI took it to 20% below last year's premiere. Survivor was down the sharpest of any CBS show, 23% below last year's week two.
- The X Factor decided to swing upward against the return of competition. Gonna need a few to stew on that one. Still -26% vs. premiere Wednesday 2012.
- The big four was -8% vs. premiere Wednesday 2012. ABC's -2% was a bit inflated because they had just one ModFam and a Revenge recap special on this night last year.

Wow at the ratings! I was hoping against hope for that 1.8 for Revolution, but a 2.7 for SVU? For people who watched it, is it true that Benson had a rape scene of sorts? So much for fan-baiting. Still, nice NBC. Yup, agreed that they should have launched Ironside tonight if SVU had this gimmick.
MF finally slowing down? Or could have NBC's SVU gimmick just dented it for this week? Not sure since CM was kind of stable. As for The Middle, I was expecting it to win its half-hour. Revolution effect? Looks like Survivor got bitten too. Haha.
Nashville still disappoints. But Back in the Game decent. So unless it collapses in the following weeks, it looks Trophy Wife will not get moved to its slot. I just hope Super Fun Night bombs so that TW gets its due chance with the MF lead-in.
I had hoped that X-Factor will be more dead than ever. Let's see next week if it's a blip.
Hoping that Revolution stays steady for the whole season. Moral victory for NBC!
Perhaps a lack of AGOT and Big Brother funnelled all the reality tv junkies into X-Factor for it's rise?
I like this theory. Some of those singing show junkies that came back for The Voice have become accustomed to watching all four nights.
Going to be a nervous wait for finals for The Question players.
The SVU number was staggering, but NBC should have launched Ironside out of this (although clearly that'd have meant this being a two-parter, because SVU is definitely not an 8pm show). Still, it's another good night for NBC - it's looking like their premiere week, and maybe even their season.
Of course, FOX not only have the SB but aren't quite in as much singing trouble as we thought. For now.
No, Revolution! Adjust! ADJUST!!!! (and down, too)
Please adjust up two tenths, Survivor, and please adjust down, Revolution!
So...wait. Now TUESDAY is a strong day and WEDNESDAY is the new "weakday"?
That's a HUGE drop for Modern Family. I was expecting something at least in the high 4s, especially when you factor in the buzz about syndication and getting still more Emmy love. I figured it would have helped them out some, but I was wrong. All of ABC was down about three to four tenths more than I thought.
Request denied.
I am doing something wrong in The Question, considering that I am 3-8! I only one on The Million Second Quiz, the FOX comedies, and The Neighbors. Should I just start picking the reverse of whatever my gut tells me?
UNGH! This is ***REDACTED***.
Well if your luck evened out, you would go 3-8 again.
Fairly irrelevant, I know, but I think you appreciate being accurate on these things: the cw aired capture at 9pm, not supernatural!
Thanks! I probably also should've mentioned how much Whose Line dropped on Tuesday but I have just had trouble paying attention to the CW this week!
