Rating the Ratings: Criminal Minds finally took a significant ratings downturn in the 2012-13 season, ending an amazing four year run in which its raw numbers went -1%, -0%, -4% and -2%. The premiere and finale were each down over 20% year-to-year, and the show was at its relative strongest right in the middle; it didn't seem to drop at all during its episodes while lead-in Survivor was off the air. As with NCIS, this grade will sort of be a "victim of its own success" situation. Dropping more than the league average is relatively new for this show. Grade: C.
Here's the now updated War of 18-49 post for Criminal Minds.

I find the drop perplexing, because I don't think the competition warranted it. X Factor and Idol were down big. Modern Family peaked last year, and none of its lead-outs did anything special. SVU was as weak as ever. It seemed like this was more a story of the musical chairs casting doing some damage.
