Rating the Ratings: Castle's usual lead-in, Dancing with the Stars, had a rather disastrous season. And early on, it looked like Castle might join it; the show's 2.1 premiere was down about a third year-to-year. But Castle held up very well post-premiere and closed the vast majority of that year-to-year deficit over the course of the season. By season's end, it was actually beating competing procedural Hawaii Five-0 with some consistency, and it also tied or beat the DWTS rating on a few occasions. Though the drop was still in the double digits, this was arguably one of Castle's most valuable seasons, as it really proved itself a decent player even with DWTS diminished. Grade: B.
Here's the now updated War of 18-49 post for Castle.

I agree with this a lot, Castle really impressed me this year, it was practically even year to year after accounting for the league average decline, and this coming after the lousy DWTS season.
When a show goes from a league-average show that relies on a strong lead-in to a league-average show that doesn't, it's been a very good year.
Did Castle actually grow in True2 this season? It certainly doesn't look like it fell by 12%.
I hesitate to make year-to-year comparisons with that number because all of the other environmental changes, but it was down 3% (2.09 to 2.02).
