Rating the Ratings: Like all the CBS Monday comedies, How I Met Your Mother came back to earth from its zenith in 2011-12. The season premiere was down 23% year-to-year, and the trend didn't improve that much over the course of the season, even though the fall 2011 numbers were most inflated. Still, it was the show's second strongest season in A18-49+. And it did show some real life for the season finale on May 13, spiking to a 3.4 demo that was more than a half point ahead of its typical level at the time. Couple that with the finale's big reveal, and the show may be set up nicely to go out on a strong note. Grade: C.
