Spotted Ratings, Sunday 5/5/13

WHAT MATTERS:

• It was another irregular Sunday in broadcast primetime due to sports overrun. But it wasn't CBS this time! It was Fox, whose cartoons were all bumped due to NASCAR.The race as a whole averaged a 2.0, but Fox had a 2.4 in the roughly 90-minute primetime portion. Fox then aired only their final two hours of cartoons with a 25-minute delay and some rather irregular ratings (including an uncommonly low Family Guy and American Dad! building on it).

• Among the others, most of the positive movement was on ABC as Once Upon a Time, Revenge and the Red Widow series finale all finally managed to make up a little bit of their recent collapses. CBS had to be disappointed to see no finale spike from The Amazing Race, though it was down about as much as the season as a whole. With an improved lead-in, the season finale of The Mentalist at least had one of its better numbers since event season.

• On cable, Game of Thrones found another series high (2.9), while a very sizable crowd wrapped up the release weekend of Iron Man 3 by tuning into FX's Iron Man 2 (1.4). That was a larger L+SD demo audience than showed up for any episode of Justified or The Americans this year!
