- We began 2013 with three uncompetitive weekdays. Suddenly, now that the weekend's here, things get hyper-competitive! The big game-changer on the night was Fox's Cotton Bowl, which was up a massive 40% year-to-year. It's not part of the more prestigious Bowl Championship Series, but the matchup (Oklahoma vs. Texas A&M and its Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback) was better than most of the BCS games, so it got nearly BCS-esque ratings.
- The largely original lineups on the rest of the big four almost uniformly fell in the one- to two-tenths range from their last pre-holiday airings. The exception was Malibu Country, down a more brutal three tenths.
