Spotted Ratings, Saturday 12/15/12

WHAT MATTERS:

• We often hear from @TedOnTV about the great ratings that the holiday theatrical Elf pulls on USA Network. Tonight, we got to see it on the broadcast stage, as Elf did much better than the typical CBS Saturday, and it easily held off a Transformers that has been one of the stronger broadcast movie repeaters in previous years. CBS then had more Newtown coverage at 10/9c but again didn't count it in finals. (It had a 1.5 in prelims.)

• With no sports options, Fox quietly brought back Cops, which went two tenths below the low point of last season.
