CBS Monday Comedies Last Week | The Post-Made in Jersey Bounce |
3.0 (How I Met Your Mother) 1.8 (Partners) (replaced by 2.5 Men (R)) 3.2 (2 Broke Girls) 3.0 (Mike and Molly) - 2.75 average | 1.2 (CSI: NY) -> 0.8 (MiJ) -> 1.2 (BB) - 10/5/2012 (1.07 average) 1.1 (NCIS (R)) -> 1.4 (C:NY) -> 1.4 (BB) - 10/12/2012 (1.30 average) |
When CBS pulled Made in Jersey, the impact was pretty extreme; the NCIS rerun did 0.3 better than Made in Jersey and the other two programs were each up by 0.2. Not expecting anything quite so extreme this week, especially since almost all of those post-MiJ gains were given right back the next week. Had CBS put The Big Bang Theory at 8:30 this week, I think there'd be some potential for an uplifting on the same scale. But with a repeat of much lower-rated Two and a Half Men this week, I say Men gets into the low-2's and there are only tiny gains from the surrounding comedies. It'll be interesting to see if TBBT (scheduled for next Monday) takes the lineup up another noticeable notch beyond whatever happens tonight.
Over/Under for CBS average from 8:00 to 10:00: 2.95. (+0.2 from last week)

Over.

Under. The CBS comedies were down two tenths week-to-week last year, and the rerun would need to hit 2.6 even if the other three break even.
HIMYM 3.1
2.5 (R) 2.2
2BG 3.4
M+M 3.0
AVG: 2.925
Just Under
Under, for mostly the same reasons Iggy mentioned. The remaining sitcoms would have to hit or exceed their average demo so far this season, which includes their high-water mark season premieres, and the Two and a Half Men repeat would have to hit a 2.3, a half-point higher than Partners. Too many stars have to line up to make this happen.
I will agree with your numbers and say UNDER, as well,
Under.

Without The Big Bang Theory lead-in, original Two and a Half Men would struggle to hit 3.0.
Tonight's repeat? 2.0, at best. Then other 3 comedies should average 3.3 to make it over. I doubt it happens.

Under. I don't see a 2.5 Men repeat pulling the night high enough to get the whole night where the line is.
For the record, this was my EXACT prediction, except I was wavering between 2.2 and 2.3 for Men. Went with the latter largely because 2.95 was a rounder number.
