Rating the Ratings: For at least one more year, Got Talent held onto its title as broadcast's top summer show. The Howard Stern Effect appeared relatively negligible in the opening weeks of the season, but the 3.0ish level at which it settled for late May through all of June seemed solid enough. Then came another brutal late-summer slump which saw the show get as low as a 2.4 on a performance night, and a special Thursday airing in the penultimate week marked a new series low 1.9. In the end, a drop in the mid-teens is far from the worst thing we've seen from a talent show in the last year, but perhaps NBC would be well-advised to find something else to fill the 42 hours it dedicated to Got Talent reruns this summer. Grade: C-.
