Rating the Ratings: Welcome to the mortal world, Jersey Shore. It took quite awhile, but the Shore finally posted a season that was down year-to-year, and it was down a lot. It looks like we can at last definitively say that we're past the peak of the Jersey Shore phenomenon. The season began in typical beast mode fashion with a ridiculous 4.0 demo on 1/5/12, down by just two tenths year-to-year, but it was pretty much all downhill from there. The last month of the season settled in the upper 2's, and pretty much every data point in the second half of the season was down at least 25% year-to-year. Plus, the show's two recent spinoffs The Pauly D Project and Snooki & JWoww have had pretty nondescript runs. So I guess the Shore will just have to settle for still being bigger than any 10/9c broadcast entertainment program. We'll see if it can maintain that title this fall. Grade: D.
Here's the now updated War of 18-49 post for Jersey Shore.
