Spotted Ratings, Thursday 8/16/12: Sit Down

WHAT MATTERS:

• So much for the CW's summer surge, as Oh Sit! was down substantially from Wednesday's premiere numbers and newbie The Next again showed us (like Duets earlier this summer) that not every talent competition is gold.

• An uninspiring NFL preseason matchup between Cincinnati and Atlanta on Fox was down nearly 50% from the year-ago telecast (a much more appealing Eagles/Steelers affair (3.1) on 8/18/11).

• Once again, most shows roughly settled back into without-Olympics levels, generally meaning significant gains for the shows that had to face the Olympics. USA had a season high from the summer's penultimate episode of Suits (1.4).
