Rating the Ratings: Extreme Makeover: Home Edition kicked off the 2011-12 season in its usual Sunday 8:00 slot, was down about 15% year-to-year for that first month, and made the move to Friday in late October. Some felt at the time that it'd go right back to Sunday after Once Upon a Time flopped in the hour. Instead, Once Upon a Time was the biggest drama newbie of the season, so Home Edition was left to get fairly weak ratings on Friday, often barely even breaking a 1.0 in the 8:00 hour. The show finally got up to what might have been acceptable ratings in its last couple weeks on the air in January, long after cancellation was announced. But I doubt ABC has any real regrets about letting this one go, as once again on Friday a timeslot replacement stepped in and did better immediately (this time the Shark Tank/Primetime: What Would You Do? duo). Grade: D+.
Here's the now updated War of 18-49 post for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
