Rating the Ratings: Like with House, it was disappointing to see a one-time monster of primetime go out with a relative whimper in its final season. Most recent dramas have been able to significantly slow or even stop their bleeding in the final season, especially when the end had been announced going in. But Desperate Housewives just turned in yet another 20%ish decline, its fourth in a row. The only silver lining for the Housewives was that, unlike with House, the declines got a little better as the end neared. For most of the fall, the declines were well over 20% year-to-year. But the show just didn't drop as much in the spring as it usually does. Starting around mid-March, the declines were more like 10%ish or a little less every week, and the series finale was actually a tick ahead of the penultimate season's finale. Grade: D+.
