Rating the Ratings: CSI: Miami wrapped up its decade-long run in decent fashion, dropping just 11% in season ten despite its pairing with a low-rated and incompatible lead-in in The Good Wife. As usual, the overrun-hindered Sunday 10:00 hour was pretty much the worst place to be on the CBS schedule. Only nine of 19 episodes started on time across the country, and what would turn out to be the series finale started at 10:51 ET on 4/8/12 (and got a new series low 1.7). As expected, it ultimately came down to Miami and the other CSI spin-off, New York, for the last spot on the CBS sked. Perhaps it came down to some nebulous money issue, or perhaps since they were fighting for a Friday spot, CBS decided to stick with the show already established on Friday. Either way, Miami got squeezed out, and The Mentalist will take over the rather thankless role in its Sunday hour next fall. Grade: C+.

I’m bummed that CSI Miami's ending. It’s been a great run and I’m going to miss watching this show lots. I love to watch the other CSI shows too so I can still watch those. I’ve always watched CSI once it’s recorded from primetime. The best way I’ve found I can enjoy this show is commercial free using the Auto Hop feature. Most of us already skip commercials, but now this feature does it automatically once you confirm this option. This is only available for use on primetime shows a day after they’ve recorded. I thought this was the sweetest feature available once my coworker at Dish showed me how it worked. Now there is nothing like being able to stay tuned to my show and not those annoying commercials ever ten minutes. Since I’ve started using this feature my remote has had a break, and I won’t go through batteries.
