Rating the Ratings: It's pretty amazing for a show in its ninth season to become the biggest drama on TV for the first time. After consistently losing its Tuesday 8/7c battle with Glee in 2010-11, NCIS was handily on top throughout this season. And yet, by this show's lofty standards, it was still not one of the more impressive seasons. Though the first half of the season was very solid, typically even or a little up year-to-year, it's had a mostly pretty soft 2012. The show started February sweeps with a 4.2 demo and then dropped for three straight weeks to end it with a 3.5. Then, after daylight saving time, it leveled off at around a 3.1, which was 10-20% behind its upper-3's level of spring 2011. This was yet another strong season for ageless NCIS, but it ended a lot worse than it started, and that makes me wonder whether next year will be the one when the show finally starts to show its age. Grade: B.
Here's the now updated War of 18-49 post for NCIS.
