Spotted Ratings, Wednesday 5/30/12

WHAT MATTERS:

• Fox dominated Wednesday (at least on broadcast) as So You Think You Can Dance benefited by a couple tenths in its first airing on Wednesday (and free of Duets competition).

• CBS tried a rare early summer premiere and didn't do much with Dogs in the City.

• NBC got off to a terrible start with the Stanley Cup Finals, down more than a third from the 1.7 and 1.8 demos for Game 1's in the last couple years.

• Finally, the CW wrapped up its spring programming with a rare out-of-sweeps finale for America's Next Top Model. Avoiding the American Idol finale seems to have benefited the show at least a little bit, as this result was above average, but it capped off what was still a horrifically-rated season overall.

• Cable had the top 18-49 show on TV for the fourth straight evening as the amazing History miniseries Hatfields & McCoys (14.287m, 4.0 A18-49) wrapped up on a high note, beating its own record for largest ad-supported non-sports cable audience. It also scored its first outright nightly victory in 18-49, edging Game 2 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals (3.9).
