War of 18-49 Update, Survivor (Fall 2011)

Let's take a look at the fall 2011 season (the twenty-third overall) of Survivor on CBS.

Rating the Ratings: Warning: lots of regurgitation from the Top Model update and the last Survivor one coming. Survivor dropped this fall, but at least some of that can be attributed to a new reality game in town in The X Factor. The competition has just gotten tougher for this show in the last year. And as was the case last spring, that toughness was illustrated to some extent when the Sunday season finale (4.0 demo) finished up so sharply from most of the rest of the season. As with Top Model, I can't give the show a major pass because The X Factor wasn't an Idol-sized hit. That said, Survivor's drop was obviously a lot smaller than Top Model's 35%. That 9% drop was the smallest for any reality franchise this fall. Grade: B.
